Meet Your Music Therapist
Niamh Mulcahy
Founder of Music Therapy Birmingham
Niamh, is a qualified HCPC-registered Music Therapist and a member of the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT). Originally from Ireland, Niamh has over a decade of experience working with children of varying ages and abilities, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, developmental delays, and complex behavioural or emotional needs.
With an honours degree in music (MTU Cork School of Music) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Education, Niamh’s career began in both teaching and music. Her path to music therapy was inspired by the impact of music therapy techniques in her teaching, with children facing communication challenges. This led her to complete an MA in Music Therapy at the University of the West of England, Bristol, with clinical placements in special education, dementia care, and adult learning disabilities settings.
Niamh founded Music Therapy Birmingham to integrate her background in education, child development, and music therapy into a holistic service for young people. In addition to her private practice, she works with the Black Country NHS Foundation Trust, supporting young people and their families.
