Our approach is client-centered, focusing on each young person’s unique needs and creating a personalised, supportive environment that fosters growth and connection through music.

Who We Support

At Music Therapy Birmingham, we provide specialised music therapy for children and young people who benefit from alternative forms of expression and therapeutic engagement. We work with a wide range of needs, including but not limited to:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD: Supporting social engagement, focus, and self-expression.

  • Anxiety, Trauma, or Mental Health Challenges: Offering a safe space to explore emotions and build resilience.

  • Developmental Delays or Sensory Processing Disorders: Using music to support sensory integration, motor skills, and developmental milestones.

  • Communication, Speech, and Language Difficulties: Enhancing communication through vocal exercises, singing, and non-verbal musical interactions.

  • Emotional Regulation and Behavioural Challenges: Helping to build coping skills, emotional awareness, and positive behaviours.

  • Adopted Children and Families: Supporting attachment, emotional expression, and identity through creative musical relationships.

  • Bereaved Children: Providing a safe, supportive space to process grief, explore memories, and express complex emotions through music.

What Happens in a Music Therapy Session?

Sessions are tailored to each client’s comfort level and preferences, allowing them to guide their own therapeutic journey. No prior musical experience is required - clients are encouraged to engage as actively or passively as they feel comfortable.
